A history of Pranks
The Economist has a great article on the history of pranks. Pranks are the precursors of flashmobs and are acts of sponanious collaboration between an ad hoc formed group of individuals in order to make fun, make a statement of taking a piss at somebody or some authority. It's a very entertaining article with some examples of the greatest pranks in history. Students at Yale
scored a big victory during last year's football match against Harvard
when they passed out pieces of paper to thousands of fans on the
Harvard side of the stadium. The fans were told that, when held up, the
bits would spell “Go Harvard”. In fact they spelled something else, as you can see when you click on the picture.
