6 amazing mobile stats
Found this on Communities Dominate Brands, but the data comes from a recent worldwide BBDO study.
- 81% of youth aged 15 - 20 sleep with their mobile phone turned on.
- Women in Japan have daytime and evening phones just like they have daytime and evening handbags.
- 96% of people screen their incoming calls.
- 76% of Australians and 76% of Spanish have already responded to mobile marketing campaigns, ie interacted with a brand via mobile.
- In China if forced to choose between retrieving a forgotten wallet or retrieving a forgotten phone, 69% will go get the phone rather than the wallet.
- And 63% of the phone owners will not lend the phone to anyone else.

Tom, don't know if you've read the Mobile Life 2007 report already, featuring similar statistics. An interesting read!
Hey Tijs,
A colleague at boondoggle forwarded it a while ago, but it slipped of my attention radar again. Thanks for the reminder. I still want to read it.
There are notices shown above ,ahh..
i went to the same school as patrick. i remeber those girls from my school who wrote in. they were white trash...i always felt so bad for them.
If you have a TypeKey or TypePad account
What's so amazing about all these stats? All the people I know sleep with their cell phone turned on, not just youngsters, all right I had no clue that Japanese women wear cell phones just like jewelry. I think it's very fascinating how important smartphones have become today, so keep these stats coming, I'm looking forward for more interesting stuff.
