Mechelen needs Photoshoppers
The organisers of Anno Expo just launched a call for photoshoppers. And no, Mechelen isn't planning to become the new DTP-center of Belgium. The people behind the initiative need Photoshoppers to "erase the Atomium from family pictures posted on the internet". This will be a hell of a job, on Flickr alone there are more than 15.000 of them.

I don't know if they'll succeed but in the meantime they've made their point : the Atomium is a cultural icon that belongs to the Belgian national conscience and not to the bank account of the grand-grand children of the deceased architect (who will cash royalties on every picture of the Atomium for the next 70 years).
Did you know for example that for posting your family-picture in front of the Atomium to a public platform, SABAM could charge you 91€?
If you're a Photoshopper and want to support this cause, fill in your details here and win a free ticket for Anno Expo, the upcoming "expo on Expo 58".

Just take a look at the blog of the atomium vzw itself: http://blog.atomium.be/. They even have a Flickr-stream on the right-hand side of the blogpage show images tagged as "atomium". Those images they are referring to, haven't payed 91€ each, have they? Well, they should have because they blog also has a disclaimer, unfortunately only in Dutch and French. So my guess is, this is a Flickr-stream of pictures taken by foreigners not talking Dutch or French. These poor people will be charged 91€ soon!
