Clay Shirky's brilliant lecture on cognitive surplus
I've been reading and following Clay Shirky since 2000 on his blog shirky.com and the Many2many blog on social software. As a professor at NY University, he's one of the most innovative thinkers on the impact of the digital revolution on society. His recent lecture at the web2.0 conference in San Fransisco is a beauty. No slides, just a carefully building up of argumentation, spiced-up with anecdotes and little jokes. Enjoy:

Yes, I agree this is brilliant. However, I don't agree with all of it as his understanding of what motivates humanity and the nature of social change differ from my perspective. Check my post on the matter out and let me know what you think.
There's scientific research about the amount of spare time in prehistoric times stating that people only had to "work" for about 4 or 5 hours to hunt or collect the food needed for a day.
Unfortunately, they did not have sitcoms...
