A taste of Ryanair's social media strategy

"Ryanair can confirm that a Ryanair staff member did engage in a blog discussion. It is Ryanair policy not to waste time and energy corresponding with idiot bloggers and Ryanair can confirm that it won't be happening again."

Read more about what happened before in this Guardian article.

Available online for free

Availableonlineforfree For me this cute but powerful culture jamming-concept is a perfect sign of our times. Skillfully condensed in a small sticker ... available online for free...

Link to the sticker here, (and if you happen to be near Vienna) to the expo here.

Introducing "involuntary contextual advertising"

Image001We recently launched a campaign for Sensoa and Axion. Sometimes they happen to meet each other.

A pure coincidence ... really!

Hat tip to Kelly for spotting this.

Berlitz keeps on talking nonsense

Els_rhodosAfter this radio-campaign and this office/guerilla campaign that hit the streets even before we could blog about it, our Berlitz campaign has reached full speed with three new executions.

One print ad from Suntori Electronics is looking for a "zeikmanager with wortelpotentieel", the other ad for the Tourist Board of Dakawi proudly presents the country as "de perverse besmetting voor jonge borstels".

Finally, this autumn we will sample menu's for a Greek takeaway restaurant at office reception desks. However, the real take-out is not the "Griekse boerensalaris met wijven" or the "Guitige geplaktballetjes met automatensaus" but the fact that we want to confront professionals with their (at times) false sense of confidence when it comes to speaking foreign languages. Or as the Berlitz pay-off goes : you don't have to be a genius to take language courses, but you'll look like a fool if you don't.

Spotted : first Sensoa spoof

BushsensoaThe site and campaign have only been launched last week, but the first spoof has already (pardon my french) popped up. This one (click thumbnail to enlarge) was spotted by Wim and sent through the agency this morning. In the meantime we wonder wether this campaign will become priceless one day...

Willkommen in Google !

Chrome_mapAs the world holds its breath for the launch of the new Google Chrome browser (did someone just turn back the clock, because it feels like Download Day all over again), Google singlehandedly redraws the map of Europe.  Seventy years of war, Yalta conferences and a plethora of European conventions, commissions and unions didn't accomplish what Google's comic book white paper pulls off.

Yes, dear friends, it's true : we are finally German.  As are the Dutch, the people from Luxemburg and quite a few Austrians and Hungarians.  Even the Danes, with whom the panel in question deals specifically, underwent a graphical Anschluss.

Let's just hope the browser has sorted out its details...

Old is the new new.

Wolfenflickr
WolfenFlickr 3D - It's ancient meeting still-quite-new, with you not escaping Nazi guards, but rather wandering through the Wolfenstein fortress admiring all the Flickr photos on the wall.

Just enter a Flickr user ID, or a search term, and walk around.

There's no hidden spaces just yet, and you can't blast the photos you don't like, but I think it's a nice example of using cool technology for something utterly useless.

Monday thought

Things have been quiet at the B-Side lately (due to the deadly combination of too many people on holiday and too many work to do), but this thought from Banksy got me thinking this Monday morning. Especially after standing eye to eye with him here this weekend...
